Clarifications

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: Is my complaint kept confidential?

Yes. The ICC is bound by strict confidentiality under the POSH Act. Identity of the complainant and respondent is protected throughout the process.

Q2: Can I file an anonymous complaint?

Yes, if the complainant fears retaliation. However, anonymous complaints make inquiry challenging; it is advisable to provide contact details for effective redressal.

Q3: What is the timeline for resolution?

Inquiry must be completed within 90 days from receipt of complaint. The final report is submitted to the competent authority within 10 days thereafter.

Q4: Who can file a complaint?

Any student, faculty, staff, or any other person on campus (including contract workers) can file a complaint. Complaints against any member of the campus community are covered.

Q5: What if I am not satisfied with the committee's decision?

You may appeal to the appellate authority (the Vice-Chancellor / Director) within 90 days of receiving the committee's recommendations.
